All vehicles (except for trains) can use recorded paths to allow for transportation of resources. The following series of videos demonstrate this functionality using a tractor to transport coal.

This episode explains how coal will be transported to the steel base, the first road is run and the loading Truck Station is placed ready to go.
Transporting Coal Part 2
This episode goes through connecting the coal miner to the loading truck station and then creating the unloading Truck Station at the Steel factory.
Transporting Coal Part 3 - Vehicle Path Recording
Vehicles automatically drive a route between Truck Stations by using a recorded route (which you have to drive once to record).
