Foundation Alignment Techniques

Foundations are pretty much well a no-brainier right? Well yes but some best practices should be adhered to that will benefit you in the long term.

Laying The First Foundation

Laying your first foundation is an important step as it will be the alignment used for all future foundations in the nearby vicinity. It's a common practice to align foundations to the same grid.

Extending Foundation Alignment

Here I will demonstrate how you can extend the foundation alignment to another location to ensure all foundations are on the same grid. This is a common technique used which helps greatly in the future of your map.

Water Extractors Foundation Alignment

Placing the water extractors in this part, time is taken to demonstrate how "Laying The First Foundation" relates to how water extractors are aligned. Specifically if you use Satisfactory Calculator Interactive Map (SCIM) to rotate foundations that are not in 10o increments you will notice that the extractors can never be parallel with the foundations.

Miner On Foundation

Demonstrated here is how you can place miners on foundations.

Fast Foundation Placement

Here's a technique to laying foundations quickly to save time.

Foundations can be placed quickly when wearing the Blade Runners.

Creating A Circle

This video provides detailed steps on how to create a circle AND how to get it as closely aligned to your existing foundations as possible. Due to the mechanics in the game, you will NEVER be able to have the foundations exactly aligned. It is recommended to use SCIM to create circles and is explained in the Creating A Circle article.

Foundation Clipping

Demonstrating how foundations of different sizes can clip into each other and how you can take advantage of this with your building techniques.

Cheat Crete

The "Corner Down Ramp" foundations in the game provide a mechanic to allow them to clip through anything. I often use this technique when using foundations for alignment in conveyor belted areas.

Railway Placement Techniques Part 3

More railway placement techniques. This time I am using the foundation rotation/alignment method I use when creating circles, as per the "Creating A Circle" tutorial.
